The new model would be even more hardcore than Koenigsegg's existing products. The hardcore model retains a removable roof panel and dihedral doors like previous Koenigsegg vehicles, though. The unnamed new hypercar would use an upgraded version of the brand's existing biturbo V8. Without going into specific details, Koenigsegg indicated to  Top Gear  that the company has managed to make the powerplant stronger and 44 pounds (20 kilograms) lighter. He hinted the team has already boosted output by 20 to 30 horsepower, indicating the 5.0-liter biturbo mill could now produce at least 1,390 horsepower (1,037 kilowatts). With lots of more time for further development, an even higher output seems possible for the upcoming model. After introducing the 488 Pista Coupe and the Pista Piloti special edition reserved to Ferrari’s client racing drivers, the squad from Maranello has now chopped off the car’s roof. The new 488 Pista Spider represents the 50 th  droptop model launched by the Prancing Horse and utilizes the company’s most powerful V8 engine ever made. At the heart of the new 488 Pista Spider is the winner of the 2018 International Engine of the Year Awards, a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 with 720 horsepower and 770 Newton-meters (568 pound-feet) of torque. The advantage the new Spider has over the coupe is that you can take the top off to hear the symphony of the V8, which has earned the title for the Best Engine for the third consecutive year.

The new car not only delivers unparalleled performance, it also makes that extreme power exploitable and controllable to an unprecedented level even by less expert drivers. An exceptional engine and sophisticated aerodynamics combined with refined vehicle dynamic controls radically improve the already razor-sharp responsiveness of Ferrari’s road cars to near-track level. Power (670 cv), engine and vehicle response times (0.8 s and 0.06 s respectively) give the 488 GTB a unique character and guarantee unmatched driving pleasure to drivers of all abilities. To achieve this result, Ferrari drew on its experience in both F1 and GT racing, in which the 458 holds the WEC title and has won its category in two editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The new model also exploits to the full
